A 55-year-old British national named Roy John tragically passed away while surfing at Varkala Beach in Thiruvananthapuram district. The incident occurred at Varkala Papanasam sea, where John faced challenging surf conditions.
The police have reported that the deceased individual was a skilled body surfer originating from London. The body is currently being held at Taluk Hospital. Based on the initial inquiry, it has been determined that the unfortunate incident occurred due to the presence of turbulent waves during his body surfing activity. The investigation is currently ongoing.
The Kerala Police’s Varkala Station House Officer (SHO) has released a statement confirming that the incident is presently being investigated. On Saturday, a significant wave caused a floating bridge to overturn at Varkala beach, resulting in injuries to 13 individuals, including two children.
