Assam’s emerging tennis sensation, Nayeem Hussain, secured the top spot in the prestigious Under-14 Asian Tennis Tournament 2024, held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Demonstrating her exceptional skill and commitment, she triumphed in the girls’ doubles category, marking a significant achievement in her promising career.
The exciting competition took place from May 13 to May 17 at the Sheikh Jamal National Sports Complex, providing a stage for young talents from across Asia to showcase their abilities. Nayeem’s impressive performance captured the attention of spectators and earned her well-deserved acclaim internationally.
At the closing ceremony, held on Friday, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, the Minister of State for the Shipping Ministry, honoured the outstanding athletes as the chief guest. Nayeem Hussain was among those recognized, bringing pride not only to her hometown of Guwahati but also to her nation.
Currently in the ninth grade at Maria’s Public School in Guwahati, Nayeem Hussain has been steadily advancing towards success with unwavering determination. Her recent victory in Dhaka adds to her growing list of achievements, following her commendable showing in the All India Championship Series Tennis Tournament held in April.
