In a major development stemming from Assam, tensions escalated as All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal responded vehemently to remarks made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a state assembly session. Assam CM’s comments, allegedly suggesting that Muslim girls were married off at shockingly young ages, have ignited a fierce controversy, with Ajmal denouncing them as baseless and incendiary.

During the assembly session, Sarma’s purported remarks drew swift condemnation from Ajmal, who accused the Chief Minister of spreading misinformation and exhibiting religious insensitivity. Ajmal challenged the veracity of Sarma’s claims, demanding concrete evidence to support such inflammatory assertions.

Expressing his determination to hold the Assam CM accountable, Ajmal declared his intent to pursue legal action against the Chief Minister, alleging defamation and falsehood. “We will file a case against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma,” affirmed Ajmal, signalling his resolve to challenge what he perceives as an attempt to mislead the public and stoke communal tensions.

In a bold move, Ajmal went a step further by daring Sarma to substantiate his controversial statements with evidence. “I will resign from my political career if Himanta Biswa Sarma can furnish proof and evidence of his speech,” asserted Ajmal, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter and the need for accountability in public discourse.

As the political confrontation intensifies, this latest clash underscores the deep-seated divisions and sensitivities within Assam’s socio-political landscape. With legal action looming and accusations flying, the ramifications of Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma’s remarks continue to reverberate, raising questions about the responsibility of public figures and the boundaries of political rhetoric in a diverse and pluralistic society.
