An Ivory Coast football player has claimed that at a football field in the Malappuram district of Kerala, he was the target of a racial remark and a mob attack. In his police complaint, Dairrassouba Hassane Junior said that a gang of fans racially assaulted and threw stones at him.
A man in a white t-shirt is seen defending the Hassane from the strikes in the meantime. Later on, the man is also seen conversing with the angry folks. After this, a gate allowed the football player to leave.
According to a report, the incident happened when the football player allegedly kicked one of the men. In his accusation, the football player did state that he had been subjected to racial insults from the audience. Hassane’s complaint has been noted by the Areekode police in relation to the issue.
The spectators hurled stones at his head and referred to him as an “African monkey” and a “black cat.” His race, skin tone, and other factors led to an attack and insults. Dairrassouba Hassane Junior who is 22 was signed up to play sevens football, a kind of football that is popular in Kerala and is often played on smaller fields than regular football fields. Seven players make up each squad. For important competitions, football clubs often bring in semi-professional international players, mostly from West Africa. The Sevens Football Association (SFA) oversees and regulates the majority of these organized competitions. Hassane was playing for Jawahar Mavoor, a football team that was taking part in the competition.
