Bir Lachit Sena leader Bikash Axom, who had been evading authorities for several days, surrendered before the Dispur Police on Saturday, November 1. He is currently being interrogated in connection with an alleged extortion case.
An arrest warrant was previously issued against him, leading him to remain in hiding and sparking widespread discussion across the state. His surrender comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding his activities.
Earlier in the day, Axom watched Zubeen Garg’s final film Roi Roi Binale. Shortly before surrendering, he shared a post on social media stating that he intended to watch the film first, anticipating his detention.
While on the run, he also reportedly raised allegations that the government was engaging influencers to suppress public discourse around the circumstances of Zubeen Garg’s death, adding further fuel to the ongoing debate.
He remains in police custody at the Dispur Police Station as the investigation continues.
