The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office in Delhi has reportedly been “sealed off” from all sides, prompting senior party leaders to voice their concerns and announce plans to report the matter to the Election Commission. Atishi, a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, took to social media platform X to raise questions about the sealing of the party office, asserting that it goes against the “level playing field” promised by the Indian Constitution.

In her social media post, Aatishi stated “How can access to a national party office be stopped during the Lok Sabha election? This (is) against the ‘level playing field’ promised in the Indian Constitution. We are seeking time with the Election Commission (EC) to complain against this,”

Another prominent AAP leader and Delhi Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, alleged that all access to the party office had been closed by the central government. He announced plans to approach the Election Commission, highlighting that the closure of the AAP head office at ITO (Income Tax Office) comes during the Model Code of Conduct, which governs election-related activities.

The AAP office, situated at DDU Marg near ITO in central Delhi, was also reportedly blocked during a recent protest by party leaders and volunteers at the BJP headquarters, just a few meters away, against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money-laundering case linked to Delhi’s now-scrapped excise policy has sparked controversy and raised concerns among AAP members. He has been remanded in Enforcement Directorate custody until March 28, further intensifying the political climate in the region.

The sealing of the AAP office has added fuel to the already simmering tensions, with party leaders emphasizing the need for fair play and transparency during the electoral process. As the situation unfolds, AAP’s grievances are expected to be addressed by relevant authorities, including the Election Commission, to ensure a level playing field for all political parties involved in the upcoming elections.
