The National Unity Government of Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently issued a notification providing guidelines for Myanmar citizens who are seeking refuge in India due to security concerns in their homeland.

In this notification, which was released on Tuesday, the Ministry emphasizes the importance of all Myanmar nationals in India following these regulations in order to maintain mutual respect, cooperation, and stability.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs kindly requests all Myanmar citizens seeking refuge in India to adhere to the following regulations:

(a) Abstain from engaging in actions that undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of India.

(b) Use discretion and refrain from participating in political or administrative affairs, such as election campaigns or ethnic conflicts in the host state.

(c) Absolutely forbidden from participating in any illicit activities involving drug trafficking, trafficking of wild animals, or related offenses.

(d) Show respect towards the host nation, fostering harmonious relationships with local communities, honouring their religious customs, and adhering to the social norms of the area where one resides.

Myanmar citizens are strongly advised to collaborate with the appropriate Indian governmental authorities and relevant Non-Governmental Organizations in order to maintain security and stability in the border regions, especially during emergencies related to health and social issues.

During times of crisis and difficulties, it is advised that individuals from Myanmar seek help and support from civil society and philanthropic organizations that aid Myanmar refugees. If needed, they can also approach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for assistance.

Myanmar civil society and philanthropic organizations are kindly asked to share this notification with appropriate religious organizations, refugee camps, communities, and civil bodies that are assisting Myanmar refugees.
