Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, affirmed the peaceful conduct of the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, highlighting the absence of violence or disruptions throughout the state.

Following his own voting, Sarma expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its coalition partners, anticipating a strong outcome with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership prevailing.

Addressing reporters, Sarma emphasized the tranquillity of the electoral process, foreseeing a favourable outcome for the BJP and its allies, driven by the electorate’s aspirations for progress. He underscored the pivotal role of East India and the north-eastern states in shaping the election’s outcome, predicting a resounding victory for the Prime Minister.

Additionally, Sarma dismissed any likelihood of re-polling in Assam, commending the people’s enthusiastic participation and their invaluable contribution to the democratic process.

Across the four Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam, polling in the third phase registered a turnout of 45.88% by 1 pm. Dhubri recorded the highest participation at 47.73 percent, trailed by Barpeta at 46.83%, Kokrajhar at 46.43%, and Guwahati at 42.13%. Polling commenced at 7 am and concluded at 5 pm.
