In a major move against drug trafficking, a substantial police initiative along the Assam-Arunachal border in Mazbat led to the confiscation of an astounding 774 kilograms of illegal cannabis.
Acting on a tip-off, authorities conducted raids in Kamalabari, where a collaborative effort between the Mazbat police and Lalpani police led to the successful seizure of the illicit substance.
The police team uncovered a large quantity of marijuana concealed in the jungle along the hills bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Subsequently, the confiscated cannabis, totalling 74 quintals, was transported to the police station later that night. A case, registered as 20/24 at the Mazbat police station, has been initiated, and investigations are presently ongoing.
Authorities estimate the international market value of the seized marijuana to be approximately ₹4 crore, highlighting the scale of the operation and the importance of disrupting the illegal drug trade in the area.
