SUGAR Cosmetics CEO and Shark Tank judge Vineeta Singh used X to debunk fake news regarding her arrest and death. She stated that the reports were untrue and accused “paid PR” of spreading these rumours about her.
On X, the CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics posted a screenshot of a deceptive report titled “A hard day for India: We say goodbye to Vineeta Singhâ.
She countered the allegations, emphasizing that these unfounded rumours have been circulating for the past five weeks. Despite her diligent attempts to counteract the dissemination of false information, which included lodging a complaint with the Mumbai Crime Branch and reporting to Meta (formerly Facebook) and the Mumbai Cyber Police, the speculations have endured.
The entrepreneur conveyed her annoyance with the situation, particularly when individuals contacted her family to confirm the untrue information. She asked for recommendations from internet users on how to deal with the ongoing misinformation campaign. In response to Ms Singh’s message, numerous social media users voiced their worry and urged the authorities to swiftly address the dissemination of false news. Mumbai Police also replied to the post, advising Ms Singh to contact them. The businesswoman expressed gratitude towards them for their assistance.
