A fatal hit-and-run incident took place close to the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in the outskirts of Guwahati, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to eight others, including school children. The event occurred in Borjhar, causing a ripple of shock throughout the community.
Based on preliminary information, a crash occurred involving a high-speed vehicle, reportedly owned by the Indian Air Force, and a school van. Tragically, the collision claimed the life of the van’s driver, Bhaskar Kumar, while eight individuals, including teachers and children, sustained severe injuries. The injured namely Suhan (5), Sujan Ali Ahmed (14), Adreja Begum (12), and Shaheen Afreen (6), were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent medical attention.
The accident transpired when the school van, identified by registration number ‘AS 01 BB 2102’, was en route to St Claret School in Borjhar. Eyewitnesses stated that the Air Force vehicle, bearing registration number 21BH5027A, crashed into the van head-on before quickly leaving the area.
