Sheetal Devi, the gold medallist at the 2023 Hangzhou Para Asian Games, has always embraced the challenge of competing with able-bodied archers.

Sheetal Devi, a 17-year-old para-athlete from India, achieved an impressive feat by securing a silver medal in the Khelo India NTPC National Ranking archery meet held at the DDA Yamuna Sports Complex in Surajmal Vihar, New Delhi. It is noteworthy that Sheetal Devi, who is an international para-archery champion, accomplished this remarkable feat despite not having arms.

Once again, this incredible armless archer showcased her remarkable skills at the Khelo India NTPC national ranking meet for women held at the DDA Yamuna Sports Complex in Surajmal Vihar last week. Despite narrowly missing out on a top spot on the podium, Sheetal’s determination and talent continue to inspire us all.

Sheetal, a formidable contender for a medal at the upcoming Paris Paralympics in August, unfortunately fell short in the final shoot off of the sub-junior girls’ category. Despite her loss of 138-140 to Ekta Rani, a reigning world youth champion, Sheetal managed to give her opponent quite a fright.

In the final shoot-off, Ekta Rani from Haryana emerged victorious, defeating Sheetal Devi and securing the gold medal. Although Sheetal posed a threat to Ekta’s lead, she ultimately lost with a score of 138-140. As a result of her outstanding performance, Ekta was awarded a prize money of ₹50,000, while Sheetal received ₹40,000 for her commendable silver medal achievement.
