The Mizoram police recently carried out an extensive crackdown on illegal liquor and drugs throughout the state, leading to the confiscation of drugs and illicit liquor worth more than ₹6 crore. Furthermore, a total of 94 individuals were apprehended in relation to these offenses.
Neihchungnunga, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Mizoram police, highlighted the continuous endeavours of the police force in addressing the issue of illicit liquor and drugs. Confiscation of locally produced liquor (LML), illegal liquor being trafficked into Mizoram from neighbouring regions, and narcotics have been carried out following the declaration of the Lok Sabha election on March 16, 2024, indicating a significant demand for alcohol and drugs in the state.
