Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislator K Kavitha, who is alleged to have paid ₹100 crore to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders in exchange for liquor licenses in the Capital, faced a significant setback as a Delhi court denied her interim bail on Monday.
On March 15, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) apprehended Kavitha, who is a member of the Telangana Legislative Council and the daughter of former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, in Hyderabad.
On Saturday, April 6, the apprehended BRS leader approached a city court, requesting the court to revoke its previous order granting permission to the CBI for interrogating her in Tihar jail.
The upcoming court session regarding this issue has been set for April 10 following the request by the CBI for more time to respond to Kavitha’s appeal. Nevertheless, Judge Kaveri Baweja declined to provide any temporary relief to Kavitha in relation to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI lawsuits.
On April 4, K Kavitha made a plea to the court for an extension of her interim bail. She emphasized the importance of her 16-year-old son’s exams and the need for her “moral and emotional support” during this crucial time.
