Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand sculpture at Puri beach in Odisha to pay tribute to veteran BJP leader LK Advani on Saturday. The sculpture featured the message ‘Congratulations Living Legend L.K. Advani Ji.’ This gesture was made following the Indian government’s declaration of awarding the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour, to the former deputy PM.

Pattnaik crafted a sand art of LK Advani, standing at a height of 5 feet, employing 4 tonnes of sand for its construction. The sculpture, accomplished within a span of 5 hours, demonstrated his intricate craftmanship and unwavering commitment.

On Saturday, President Droupadi Murmu conferred this prestigious award upon former Prime Ministers Chaudhary Charan Singh and PV Narasimha Rao. Moreover, the honorable recipients of this recognition also included former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur and renowned agronomist MS Swaminathan.

Advani, born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, which is now part of Pakistan, holds the record for serving as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the longest duration since its establishment in 1980. With an illustrious parliamentary career spanning almost thirty years, he initially held the position of Home Minister and subsequently became the Deputy Prime Minister in Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s cabinet from 1999 to 2004.
