The Congress party has declared to organize a nationwide protest on Saturday and Sunday at both the state and district headquarters of the party. This protest is in response to the income-tax notices that have been issued, with the most recent one amounting to approximately ₹1,700 crore, which was dispatched earlier today.
Congress is currently facing a financial shortage following a penalty of ₹200 crore imposed by the Income Tax authorities, resulting in the freezing of its funds. Despite not receiving any respite from the High Court, the party is expected to appeal to the Supreme Court.
The party has lodged allegations against the BJP for exerting financial pressure on them and employing tax authorities as a means to hinder their progress prior to the commencement of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19. Rahul Gandhi, from the Congress party, has asserted that if they assume power, they will adopt stringent measures against individuals attempting to undermine democracy. He emphasized that once the government undergoes a transition, decisive action will undoubtedly be taken against those responsible for destabilizing democracy. This action will be executed in such a manner that it deters any future attempts to engage in such activities.
