Ukraine’s capital city of Kyiv and the western region of Lviv have been targeted in a significant Russian air attack. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has escalated with a series of deadly aerial attacks, including the recent strikes on Sunday morning.
This comes after the Russian military announced the capture of the Ukrainian village of Ivanivske near Bakhmut. A nationwide air alert had been issued in Ukraine, warning of potential cruise missile launches from Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers.
The Polish Armed Forces Operational Command (RSZ) has reported that their forces are on high alert due to the increased long-range aviation activities of the Russian Federation and the missile strikes in Ukraine.
In recent weeks, there has been a surge in air attacks by both Russia and Ukraine. Kyiv, which has faced challenges in acquiring weapons and soldiers due to the prolonged war, has vowed to respond by taking the fight to Russian territory. Pictures have emerged showing residents of the Ukrainian capital seeking refuge in metro stations.
This escalation follows Russia’s missile strikes on Friday, which targeted a dam and resulted in a million Ukrainians losing access to power. In retaliation, Moscow has intensified its own attacks, launching numerous missiles and deploying explosive drones to dismantle Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
