Ahmedabad has become the center of cricket excitement as fans from across India and other countries travel to the city for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final between India and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This highly anticipated match, set for March 8, has led to a huge increase in travel, hotel bookings, and local business activity.

With the world’s largest cricket stadium hosting the final, the city is welcoming a wave of visitors eager to see the match in person. The stadium holds over 132,000 spectators and is expected to be at full capacity as fans gather for what could be one of the year’s biggest sporting events.

The spike in demand has caused hotel prices to rise sharply. Industry representatives report increases of 300 to 400 percent compared to regular rates. Rooms that usually cost between ₹5,000 and ₹20,000 per night are now listed for ₹15,000 to ₹50,000, while some premium properties are charging significantly more due to the high demand from cricket fans.

Travel costs have also increased dramatically as thousands of supporters rush to Ahmedabad for the match. Airfares on major routes to the city have soared, with tickets that typically cost around ₹4,500 to ₹6,000 going up to over ₹16,000. In some cases, premium flight prices have reached ₹30,000 or more. Trains to the city are also full as fans look for other travel options.

The cricket excitement is boosting the local economy, with restaurants, transport services, and shops seeing a large increase in activity. Many businesses are benefiting from the influx of visitors, while residents near the stadium are offering parking spaces and accommodations for the crowd. Hospitality leaders note that the final has turned what is usually a slow tourism period into a significant business opportunity for the city.

Ticket demand has been very high. Official bookings started through authorized platforms with prices ranging from ₹2,000 for basic seating to ₹75,000 for premium hospitality suites. Most categories sold out quickly as supporters rushed to get their spots in the stadium.

The excitement extends beyond the stadium, with clubs, theaters, and community spaces hosting large-screen showings of the final so fans without tickets can still enjoy the event together. Many venues have reported heavy bookings as cricket supporters prepare for the big night.

The approach to the final has also led to increased security measures and strict monitoring to prevent ticket scalping. Authorities have already acted against several illegal ticket sales as part of their efforts to ensure a smooth and safe matchday experience for fans.

As anticipation grows, Ahmedabad buzzes with chants, flags, and jerseys as supporters count down to the final showdown. With India aiming for another global title and New Zealand looking to lift the trophy, the match promises a thrilling end to the tournament and a memorable night of cricket for fans in the world’s largest cricket stadium.
