OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Health, a new space within ChatGPT that aims to help users manage health and wellness questions with more personalized insights and better privacy protections. This feature builds on how people already use ChatGPT. Health and wellness inquiries are among the platform’s most common uses, with over 230 million interactions each week.

ChatGPT Health allows users to connect their medical records and popular wellness apps, including Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, and other trackers. This way, responses are based on their own health data instead of generic information. Users can upload test results, clarify lab work, prepare for doctor visits, receive customized diet and exercise advice, and explore insurance options with greater confidence.

Privacy is a key priority. Conversations in ChatGPT Health are separated, with added encryption, from regular ChatGPT chats. This means sensitive health data isn’t used to train OpenAI’s main models and remains distinct from other interactions. Users decide what to share and can disconnect apps or delete linked data at any time.

OpenAI emphasizes that ChatGPT Health is not a tool for medical diagnosis or treatment. Instead, it supports users by helping them understand complex information and prepare for professional care. The experience has been shaped with input from hundreds of doctors across various specialties to ensure clarity, safety, and usefulness.

For now, access is being rolled out to a limited group of users on both free and paid ChatGPT plans outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the U.K. Wider availability is expected soon.
