A powerful explosion at the Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar killed at least nine people and injured over 25 during the handling of explosives seized in the Faridabad terror module case. The blast occurred while officials were extracting and packaging chemical samples for forensic testing, triggering a massive detonation that severely damaged the building and nearby vehicles.

Police are examining whether the explosion was caused by an accidental reaction involving ammonium nitrate or another handling error. Though a terror angle has not been fully ruled out, authorities currently believe the incident was accidental, with investigations underway to determine the precise trigger.

In the aftermath, security agencies have intensified checks across Jammu and Kashmir, especially in light of recent terror-related incidents. Families of the victims gathered at hospitals and the blast site, grieving as rescue teams continue searching for those still missing.
