The building of two new metro lines as part of Delhi Metro’s Phase-IV project has received approval from the Union Cabinet, which is chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Anurag Thakur, the union minister of information and broadcasting, made the announcement on Wednesday. This has two metro links: one connecting Inderlok and Indraprastha, and the other connecting Lajpat Nagar and Saket.
The Indian government, the government of Delhi, and foreign financial agencies would work together to fund the projects, which are expected to cost a total of ₹8,399 crore. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) now runs 286 stations throughout a network of 391 km. The building of a 65-kilometer network is part of the Delhi metro’s fourth phase of expansion.
Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block:
There would be roughly 8.4 kilometres in the G-Block Metro corridor from Lajpat Nagar to Saket. There will be eight stops along the fully elevated corridor. The corridor will link Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) Silver, Magenta, Pink, and Violet Lines. Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash – 1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Center, Pushp Vihar, and Saket G – Block are the 8 stations.
Many areas in Saket will now have Metro connectivity thanks to the G Block corridor connecting Lajpat Nagar and Saket. This will also boost connectivity in South Delhi areas like Andrews Ganj and Greater Kailash.
Indraprastha to Inderlok:
The second metro corridor connects Indraprastha and Inderlok. This metro line segment will be approximately 12.4 kilometres long. This corridor will have an elevated section measuring 1.028 kilometres with 10 stations and an underground portion measuring 11.35 kilometres. The Red, Yellow, Airport Line, Magenta, Violet, and Blue Lines will all be interchangeable with the new Inderlok to Indraprastha metro line, which was initially an extension of the Green Line. Inderlok, Daya Basti, Sarai Rohilla, Ajmal Khan Park, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, LNJP Hospital, Delhi Gate, Delhi Sachivalaya, and Indraprastha are the ten metro stations along this line.
This metro line will provide greater connectivity to the Bahadurgarh region of Haryana.
