A devotee of the romantic movie Saiyaara has taken piety to an entirely new level, turning up at a cinema hall attached to an IV drip. The clip, which rapidly gained popularity on social media networks, features the young man sitting in a movie hall with medical tubing strapped to his hand and a drip bag placed across his lap—clearly emotionally affected by the movie as tears roll down his face.

Saiyaara: Crowds go crazy for Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda, turn cinema hall into a concert; netizens say 'hype is real' - Hindustan Times

The event occurred in Mumbai and was captured by friends who were with him. Although there was shock among some viewers at the seeming lack of regard for health, there were others who were amazed by the enthusiasm and emotional involvement the film appeared to induce.

Social media users responded with a combination of concern and humor. One of them posted, “Bhai bimar ho, tu Allah ko yaad kar, Saiyaara se kaam nahi chalega,” while another made a joke, “Iss generation ke liye paani save karna hai.” Most of them cited the danger of departing from a healthcare facility to sit in on a movie—yet could not help but be impressed with the impact of the film on audiences.

Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara features debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda and has already touched the youth of India emotionally. Since its release on July 18, the film has witnessed crazy scenes at cinema halls—guys dancing bare-chested, shouting at the top of their lungs, and even weeping. The music, visuals, and pathos of tragic love at the heart of the narrative seem to be touching hearts big time, particularly of Gen Z and young millennials.

The soundtrack of the film, scored by musicians such as Tanishk Bagchi and Faheem Abdullah, has hit streaming charts. The sentimental connect of Saiyaara is being pitted against cult classics such as Aashiqui 2 and Rockstar, both of which have been responsible for making a lasting impression on sensitive sensibilities.

The IV-drip fan moment, as medically ill-advised as it is, represents how strong film can be in India. It muddles the reel and real, the comfort and the obsession. While the clip keeps getting more attention, Saiyaara solidifies its position not only as a film—but as a cultural moment.
