After spending six months in the orbiting laboratory, NASA’s Crew 7 astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) are getting ready to return home, the US space agency announced. NASA made a statement that the four crew members would return to Earth on SpaceX Dragon, which is scheduled to undock from the space station on March 11 at 11:05 am. The vehicle will splashdown off the coast of Florida, as early as 5.35 am on March 12, depending on the weather.

The launch of the Crew 7 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) was held on August 26, last year. The mission included NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli, ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen, JAXA astronaut Satoshi Furukawa, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov. With the recent arrival of four members of the Crew 8 mission, the ISS is currently housing 11 astronauts from the US, Europe, Russia and Japan.

The Crew 7 is now preparing to wrap up their mission of nearly 6 months. In order to help people to get ready for future space flights, the Crew-7 carried out scientific research and technology demonstrations during their six months on the International Space Station (ISS).

Among their scientific achievements are investigations into how immunological function is affected by spaceflight, methods for removing pollutants from wastewater, and producing food on space station. The group launched two CubeSats- a low cost alternative version of regular satellites outside the station.
