Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump spoke over the phone and stated that PM Modi is likely to visit the White House in February.
In a readout of the phone call between the two leaders, the White House said that Trump had a fruitful discussion with Modi and sought a move towards a deeper India-US cooperation. The leaders also discussed regional issues, and security aspects in the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe.
At the same time, the Indian government issued a statement about the phone call between the two leaders which stated that the leaders agreed to remain in touch and meet soon at an early mutually convenient date.
In a post on X, Modi wrote, “Delighted to speak with my dear friend President @realDonaldTrump @POTUS. Congratulated him on his historic second term. We are committed to a mutually beneficial and trusted partnership. We will work together for the welfare of our people and towards global peace, prosperity, and security.”
However, an official announcement of a US visit is yet to be made by the Indian government so far.
