Six terrorists carried out repeated suicide attacks on a security check station in the volatile tribal province of North Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan, on Saturday, killing at least seven Pakistan Army soldiers, including two officers.
Five soldiers were killed, along with a captain and lieutenant colonel. After attacking the check post in the Mir Ali region, all six terrorists were shot and killed.
According to military and security officials, a suicide bomber crashed his truck full of explosives into a large military station in northwest Pakistan on Saturday (local time). A gunfight ensued after the bombing that claimed the lives of at least seven soldiers. A section of a military installation fell, according to the military. It stated that two officers perished in the ensuing gunfight and that five soldiers perished in the truck explosion.
Both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan denounced the incident and honoured the martyred the soldiers. The army has eradicated all terrorists from the area, North Waziristan had long been a base for Taliban and other Pakistani terrorist organizations.
