50 people were injured onboard in a Boeing 787-9 international flight from Sydney to Auckland when the aircraft unexpectedly fell in mid-air. The Chilean airline LATAM was in charge of the journey, and according to the outlet, there was “strong movement” on board due to a technical malfunction. The plane abruptly lost altitude, throwing a number of passengers and crew members against the ceiling.
When the plane landed in Auckland, paramedics and over 10 emergency vehicles greeted the passengers. About fifty individuals were treated for minor injuries at the scene, while 13 were sent to a hospital. Among the injured were 3 crew members as well. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner landed at Auckland Airport as scheduled and was due to continue to Santiago, Chile.
