Five individuals lost their lives and numerous others sustained injuries after a passenger bus they were on board plunged from a flyover in Jajpur, Odisha, during the late hours between Monday and Tuesday, as reported by the police.
The occurrence occurred at approximately 9 pm on the Barabati bridge along National Highway-16, where the unfortunate bus carrying around 45 passengers was said to be traveling from Puri to Kolkata.
The accident claimed the lives of four men and one woman, while approximately 40 individuals sustained injuries and were transported to Cuttack SCB Medical College. Authorities have reported that the driver’s loss of control led to the tragic incident.
The demise of individuals in the bus accident has elicited sorrow from Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has further declared a compassionate payment of ₹3 lakh to be granted to the immediate family members of the deceased. In a similar vein, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has conveyed her condolences for the tragic incident that occurred in Odisha, emphasizing her government’s commitment to extend aid to those impacted by the unfortunate event.
