On Tuesday, a tragic shooting incident occurred at a primary school in Vantaa, Finland, resulting in the loss of one life and injuries to two individuals. The assailant, a minor, opened fire at the school before being apprehended by authorities.

The police have reported that the suspect, who is a student at the same school, fled the scene after the incident but was apprehended later. It has been revealed that the suspect was in possession of a legally owned firearm belonging to a close family member and has confessed to committing the shooting. The incident occurred at Viertola school, located in Vantaa, a suburban area of Helsinki. The school accommodates approximately 800 students ranging from first to ninth grade, along with a staff of 90 individuals, as stated by the local municipality.

The authorities initially stated that both the perpetrator and the victims were 12 years old. A thorough inquiry has been initiated to examine the charges of homicide and attempted murder. According to a witness interviewed by a local daily, gunshots reverberated throughout the schoolyard. Concerned parents of the students informed journalists that the incident occurred within a classroom.
