10 people lost their lives when an SUV deviated off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and plunged into a 300-feet gorge in Ramban district on Friday. The incident occurred at around 1:15 am in the Battery Chashma area of the district as the vehicle was en route from Srinagar to Jammu.
The local officials, such as the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Civil Quick Response Team (QRT) from Ramban, promptly reached the location to commence the rescue mission. Balwan Singh (47), the driver of the car, and Vipin Mukhiya Bhairagang from West Champaran in Bihar have been identified as two of the deceased individuals.
Rescue operations were not commenced immediately due to the difficult terrain, darkness, and continuous rainfall in the region. The exact number of casualties and the status of any survivors are still uncertain as we await more information.
